1. Overview
AI CarScan ("the app", "we", "us") is a vehicle diagnostics application that connects to your car's OBD-II port via a Bluetooth adapter and optionally uses AI to help interpret that data. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique user identifier, your name (if you consent), and your email address. We use this to create and manage your account.
Vehicle Sensor Data
When you connect an OBD-II adapter, the app reads live sensor data from your vehicle (RPM, speed, temperatures, fault codes, etc.) directly on your device. This data is only transmitted to our servers when you explicitly attach it to a chat message.
Chat Messages
If you use the AI Diagnostics feature, your messages — including any attached vehicle data snapshots and images — are sent to our servers and forwarded to an AI language model to generate a response. Conversations are stored so you can access your history.
Usage Data
We collect basic usage information (app version, subscription tier, API request counts) to operate the service and enforce usage limits.
Billing Information
Subscription purchases are handled by Apple's App Store. We receive confirmation of your subscription status via RevenueCat but never see your payment details.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your vehicle data for advertising.

When you use AI Diagnostics, your message content and any attached data are processed by Google. Please review their privacy policy to understand how they handle this data.
5. Data Retention
- Conversations are retained until you delete them or close your account.
- Vehicle snapshot data attached to messages is retained as part of the conversation.
- Account data is deleted immediately when you delete your account from the Profile screen. Your conversations, messages, name, email, and avatar are permanently removed at that time.
- Limited tombstone record. After deletion we retain a minimal record consisting of your sign-in provider (Apple or Google), the opaque provider account identifier, your prior subscription tier, and your prior message-usage count. We use this only to (a) prevent abuse of the free trial via repeated account re-creation and (b) restore an active paid subscription if you sign in again with the same account. This record contains no name, email, avatar, conversations, or message content.
- App Store subscriptions are managed by Apple and are not cancelled by deleting your account. To stop billing, cancel your subscription in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
6. Guest Mode
If you use the app in Guest mode, no account is created and no data is sent to our servers. All vehicle data remains on your device. Guest mode does not have access to AI chat features.
7. Children's Privacy
AI CarScan is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights or to delete your account, contact us at the email below.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
